About Us

Zig Zag Coaching was established in March 2008 initially as 'Zig Zag Football Coaching' before deciding on expanding to other sports for 2009. We run holiday courses of varying lengths as well as other sports events such as tournaments, fun days and coaching sessions. The organisation was set up by the current Head Coach, Ted Grizzell, after coaching with The Football Association in Africa. He has vast experience in working with children and many qualifications, The FA level 2 coaching badge and qualifications specific to the 5-11's age range (FA Youth Award Module 1+2), to name a few.

At Zig Zag Coaching we use a selection of specialist coaches from across the country, all of which are CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked, Child Protection and best practice trained, FA/RFU qualified and greatly experienced.

We make sure everything we do is player centred to ensure the children can express themselves and by giving them ownership of sessions they will get more enjoyment out of it and achieve much more. All the courses are focused around giving the children ownership meaning they are far more engaged, take in a lot more and ultimately have more fun. The coaching sessions are centred on fundamental movement skills, running, jumping, hopping etc. This means the children develop not only in the specific sport, but also prepare them for sport as a whole. Themed sessions are also key, so rather than telling the players they are 'working on defending', they could be told to be an animal in the jungle. They still learn the same skill, but by having more fun in the process the mind will develop much faster.
